Nebraska's first-team football All-Americans have joined the Huskers from 25 states and the District of Columbia. The state of Nebraska has grown 38 All-Americans who have claimed 43 first-team All-America certificates since North Platte native Vic Halligan captured NU's first award way back in 1914.
The state of Texas has added 10 All-Americans and 13 awards to Nebraska's rich tradition, while six Californians have earned national honors as Huskers. Nebraska's All-America tradition reaches from coast-to-coast, with All-Americans coming to the Cornhusker State from East Coast states such as New Jersey, Florida, Pennsylvania, West Virginia and Washington, D.C.
From the West, Husker All-Americans have come from Arizona, Colorado, Nevada, Oregon and even Hawaii, while Nebraska has always attracted the best players in the nation from nearby Midwest states such as Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Dakota and Wisconsin. The Huskers have also had success with players from the Southeast, including Louisiana and Tennessee.
