Men's Basketball Retired Jerseys

Four players have had their jerseys retired at Nebraska. Read about these Husker greats.

#10 Tyronn Lue (1996-98)

#10 Tyronn Lue (1996-98)

Tyronn Lue became the fourth Husker to have his jersey retired when he was honored on Feb. 2, 2017. Lue, who ranks in the top 10 in 13 categories during his three-year Husker career, earned All-Big 12 honors in 1998 helping Nebraska to the NCAA Tournament. A first-round draft pick in 1998, he spent 11 seasons in the NBA, including a pair of titles with the Los Angeles Lakers. A 2013 Nebraska Basketball Hall of Fame inductee, Lue coached the Cleveland Cavaliers to an NBA title in 2016 and three NBA Finals appearances. He was named head coach of the Los Angeles Clippers in October of 2020 and guided the Clippers to the 2021 Western Conference Finals. He served as an assistant coach for the United States Men's Basketball Team in the 2024 Olympics, helping Team USA to a gold medal.

Eric Piatkowski Retired Jersey

#52 Eric Piatkowski (1991-94)

Eric Piatkowski became the third Husker to have his jersey retired, as he was honored on Feb. 18, 2006. Piatkowski was a two-time All-Big Eight selection as he totaled 1,934 points in helping NU to four straight NCAA Tournaments during his collegiate career.  A first-round draft pick in 1994, he spent 14 seasons in the NBA with the Los Angeles Clippers, Houston Rockets, Chicago Bulls and Phoenix Suns. Piatkowski, who was also inducted into the Nebraska Basketball Hall of Fame in 2006, highlighted the inaugural class of the Nebraska Athletics Hall of Fame in 2015.

Stu Lantz became the second Husker basketball player to have his jersey retired when he was honored on Oct. 17, 1989. A two-time first-team All-Big Eight performer, Lantz totaled 1,269 points and 571 rebounds in his three-year Husker career. He went on to play eight years in the NBA with four teams (San Diego/Houston Rockets, Detroit Pistons, New Orleans Jazz, Los Angeles Lakers).  Lantz was a charter member of the Nebraska Basketball Hall of Fame in 1989. The 2024-25 season will be his Lantz’s 38th season with the Los Angeles Lakers broadcast team. 

#42 Dave Hoppen (1983-86)

#42 Dave Hoppen (1983-86)

Nebraska’s all-time leading scorer, Hoppen had his No. 42 jersey retired at the end of Senior Night on Feb. 26, 1986. Hoppen totaled 2,167 points before a knee surgery cut short his senior year Hoppen broke or tied 19 school records as a Husker. A third-round draft pick in 1986, he spent six seasons in the NBA. Hoppen was inducted into the Nebraska Basketball Hall of Fame in 1996 and Nebraska Athletics Hall of Fame in 2017.
