Huskers Set Sights on Third Consecutive College World Series Appearance - Huskers.com - Nebraska Athletics Official Web Site

Over the past few years, the Nebraska baseball program has undergone a dramatic rebirth. With four straight NCAA regional berths, back-to-back College World Series appearances and a facility that is the envy of nearly every program in the country, the Nebraska program has firmly established itself on the national scene.

The Huskers overachieved in 2002, advancing to the CWS for the second straight season before ending the campaign with a 47-21 record. NU overcame numerous injuries and peaked during another magical postseason run.

This summer, the program underwent a transition, as Dave Van Horn resigned to take the head coaching position at Arkansas, his alma mater. That same day, former Nebraska Athletic Director Bill Byrne made two major moves to continue the momentum of the last four seasons, naming Mike Anderson Head Coach and Rob Childress Associate Head Coach. The two moves not only ensured a smooth transition, but also the continuity and philosophy that has been instrumental in the success of the Husker program.
