Lincoln -- Nebraska freshman Bryan Snyder was named the Big 12 Wrestler of the Week by the Big 12 Conference office Monday afternoon.
Snyder spearheaded the 12th-ranked Huskers' efforts Saturday at the seventh annual Great Plains Open in Lincoln, Neb. Snyder (14-2, 6-2) recorded a technical fall at six minutes (22-7) over Jason Wanek (unattached) in the opening round, pinned Wyoming's Mike McConville at the 1:05 mark, and dominated Missouri's Matt Webster, 17-6, to advance to the 157-pound finals, where he defeated teammate Bill Gabel, 14-10.
Snyder, a native of Easton, Pa., was the lone Husker champion at the meet.
