Dallas, Texas -- The Big 12 Conference announced Tuesday that Nebraska freshman A.J. Lamb was named Big 12 Gymnast of the Week after winning three events and the all-around in the Huskers' victory over Missouri on Jan. 29.
Lamb placed first on uneven bars (9.875), balance beam (9.90) and floor exercise (9.925) en route to a first-place all-around total of 39.425, the fifth-highest total in school history and the best all-around score in the Big 12 this season.
The Lincoln, Neb., native set NU freshman school records in the all-around and floor exercise, while tying the NU freshman record on beam. Lamb is the second Husker honored this season as Heather Brink was selected on Jan. 18.
The seventh-ranked Huskers, 8-3 on the season and 2-0 in Big 12 duals, travel to Oklahoma this Friday, Feb. 4, at 7 p.m.
