Two Huskers earn Preseason All-America Honors

Lincoln -- Nebraska senior goalkeeper Karina LeBlanc and sophomore forward Christine Latham have been named preseason second-team All-Americans by College Soccer Online (www.collegesoccer.com).

LeBlanc, a starting goalkeeper for the Canadian National Team, led the Big 12 Conference last season with a 0.51 goals-against average, ranking fifth nationally. Latham, also a member of the Canadian National Team, captured second-team all-conference honors as a true freshman last year, scoring 29 points on 12 goals and five assists.

"It's great recognition for the two of them," Nebraska Head Coach John Walker said. "For Karina, it's a much deserved way to begin her final season. With Christine, I think people were well aware of her talent by the end of last season at both the collegiate and international level."

Both athletes will see time on both sides of the ball when Nebraska plays host to the Canadian National Team in an exhibition game on Wednesday, Aug. 18, at 7 p.m. at the Abbott Sports Complex.

The Huskers are ranked third in the Soccer Buzz Preseason Poll, which was released Tuesday. Nebraska sits behind North Carolina and Penn State, while Notre Dame and Santa Clara round out the top five.
