LeBlanc, Huskers notch 7th straight shutout in 2-0 win vs. UT

Husker junior midfielder Meghan Anderson scored two goals, while senior goalkeeper Karina LeBlanc and the NU defense held Texas scoreless, as the third-ranked Nebraska soccer team topped the Longhorns, 4-0, before a crowd of 623 at the Abbott Sports Complex on Friday evening. Posting their seventh straight shutout, the Huskers improved to 13-0-0 overall and 4-0-0 in the Big 12 Conference, while Texas fell to 8-4-0 and 3-1-0.

LeBlanc upped her scoreless streak to 690:22, the 13th longest streak in NCAA Division-I history, and lowered her conference-leading goals-against average to 0.26. LeBlanc and the Huskers have not allowed a goal since Sept. 10, against Purdue. A Hermann Trophy candidate, LeBlanc also lowered her career goals-against average to 0.54, which ranks seventh in NCAA Division-I history.

Anderson, meanwhile, scored her eighth and ninth goals of the season, as she posted the ninth multiple-goal game of her career and third of the season. Her first came at 57:59 on a pass from Christy Harms from Kori Saunders, while her second came on a penalty kick at 63:25. The Omaha, Neb., native now has scored 28 points on nine goals and 10 assists - good for second in the Big 12, behind Christine Latham, who scored NU's first goal at 19:31. Saunders, a sophomore midfielder, and junior forward Najah Williams assisted Latham's goal. Latham now has 31 points on a conference-leading 14 goals and three assists.

Texas freshman Kylee Wosnuk, who entered the matchup at No. 3 in the conference with 22 points, managed the Longhorns' only shot on goal. The Huskers outshot Texas, 40-5, and outcornered the Longhorns, 9-1. UT freshman goalkeeper Shay Wilkerson notched a season-high 10 saves, as the Longhorns were shutout for the first time this season.

"I was very pleased with our effort and our pressure," Nebraska Head Coach John Walker said. "It was just one of those games where the ball does everything but go in the net. Overall, it was a good performance. We probably just need to relax around the net. When you're 10 yards out, it's not power that counts."

Senior midfielder Lauren Tatum added her second goal of the season at 80:46 on a throw in from junior forward Danica Carey, marking NU's final score of the game.

The Huskers will return to action on Sunday in a 1 p.m. contest at the Abbott Sports Complex against 14th-ranked Texas A&M. The game will air on Fox Sports Midwest on Thursday, Oct. 12, at noon; Friday, Oct. 13, at 1 p.m.; and Sunday, Oct. 15, at noon.
