Chapel Hill, N.C. -- The Nebraska soccer team rallied from an early one-goal deficit on Saturday to defeat defending national champion North Carolina, 3-1. Husker forward Christine Latham, midfielder Kori Saunders and forward Christy Harms scored goals for the Huskers, while Erin Miller and Leah Lamale split time in goal.
"It was a good performance and a great way to finish the spring," Nebraska Head Coach John Walker said.
Trailing 1-0, Latham, a junior next fall, headed in a free kick from senior Meghan Anderson to tie the game at one late in the second half. Minutes later, Saunders gave Nebraska the lead, scoring on a pass from Latham just before the half.
NU added its final goal on a corner kick 10 minutes into the second half. Harms headed in a pass from Saunders following a corner kick by senior Kelly Rheem.
Alyssa Ramsey, a sophomore next fall, scored the Tar Heels' lone goal in the first half.
North Carolina finished the 2000 season 21-3 after defeating UCLA in the championship game. Nebraska finished 22-2, ranked ninth nationally.
