Lincoln -- The Nebraska swimming and diving team will end the 2001-02 season Feb. 20-23, in College Station, Texas, at the 2002 Big 12 Conference Championships.
Diving events begin Wednesday, Feb. 20, and swimming events begin Thursday, Feb. 21, with preliminary heats in the morning and final heats at night.
Nebraska Head Coach Pablo Morales looks forward to the conference championships.
"Hopefully, we will have a great meet," Morales said. "We will get a lot of lifetime-best swims, and hopefully prove that we can compete."
During the season, team unity was the goal and the coaching staff encouraged the young and inexperienced Huskers to work at improving their times.
"The winter training trip was one of the high points of the season," Morales said. "I think that the girls showed a lot of growth. We had a hard week of training and a lot of people made physical and mental strides beyond what they thought they could do."
Despite a season with ups and downs, the team is looking forward to competiting at the Big 12 Championships.
"We're excited," Morales said. "The girls are looking sharp and we have seen some great improvements across the board. The Big 12 Championships are going to be a great opportunity for us to compete and show what we have accomplished this season."
