Defender Breanna Boyd scored the Huskers' lone goal with less than five minutes remaining in the game as the Nebraska soccer team came from behind to tie Notre Dame, 1-1, before a crowd of 568 at the Abbott Sports Complex on Saturday night.
The contest was the Huskers' final game of the spring season.
"It was a good, physical battle," Nebraska Head Coach John Walker said. "The girls fought hard. It was a good way to finish the spring."
Notre Dame took a 1-0 lead at 55:48 when Melissa Tancredi fired a long shot into the corner of the net. Mary Boland, who fed the ball to Tancredi, earned an assist on the goal.
Boyd, a senior next fall, scored the game-tying goal from just inside the box at 85:34, following a flick from Paige Phillips.
"As a defender, it feels great to help out the offense every once and awhile," Boyd said. "Coach Walker told me to play up in the last minute and it just worked out."
The Huskers outshot Notre Dame, 16-9, and outcornered the Fighting Irish, 8-2.
"It was a really exciting game," Boyd said. "We put in a really solid effort. It was a physical battle. They fought hard and we fought right back. I think the team is happy."
Goalkeeper Erin Miller recorded three saves for the Huskers, while Notre Dame keeper posted four saves for the Fighting Irish.
Notre Dame will face USC at 11a.m. on Sunday at the Abbott Sports Complex. Nebraska fell, 3-2, to the Women of Troy on Friday.
