The Huskers went through meetings on Tuesday and will begin preseason training Wednesday morning with athletic testing.  The team will see its first action on the field when the Huskers face the U-17 team at the Abbott Sports Complex Wednesday at <?xml:namespace prefix="st1" ns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags"?>7 p.m.

"I am sure both team will be excited to get on the field," Coach John Walker said.  "This will just be a chance to put everyone out on the field and get a feel for what we have."

Two of the Nebraska newcomers will see familiar faces among the opponent, as Brittany Timko and Tanya Dennis hail from Canada.  Nineteen members of the Canadian U-17 team have been training in Lincoln since Aug. 7, under the direction of Walker, and are slated to take on Nebraska-Omaha Tuesday evening.

The Husker newcomers will be thrown into the mix immediately, after only a walk-through early Wednesday morning.

The Canadian U-17 game marks the first of two exhibition games for the Huskers, including a match against Denver, Aug. 22.  NU will also host the annual Meet N Beat the Huskers at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 20 at the Abbott Sports Complex.  The event will allow fans to get to know the Huskers through games and an autograph session.

The Nebraska soccer team will leap into the regular season Aug. 29 and 31, when it faces DePaul and Iowa, respectively, at 7 each evening at the Abbott Sports Complex.
