Nebraska Tied for Seventh at Squire Creek Intercollegiate

Choudrant, La. -- The Nebraska men’s golf team responded in the second round of the Squire Creek Intercollegiate on Monday, rebounding from an opening-round 311 to post a 295 in the afternoon and move into a tie for seventh place at the 54-hole tournament in Choudrant, La. Nebraska’s afternoon team score was the third-best of the day at the 7,105-yard, par-72 Squire Creek Golf Club.

The Huskers’ 606 team total ties them with Nicholls State and Sam Houston State for seventh in the 15-team field. Leader Arkansas-Little Rock stands at 593, good for a one-shot lead over Louisiana-Monroe. Texas Arlington and Boise State are tied for third at 598, followed by Arkansas State at 601 and Lamar at 602.

Individually, Nebraska is led by redshirt freshman Drew Reynolds, who typified the Husker day. After Reynolds struggled to an 81 in the morning, he rebounded with a career-low three-under 69 in the afternoon, leaving him at 150, good for a tie for 20th position. Senior Chris Hartwig is tied for 28th at 152 after rounds of 77 and 75, while freshman Brady Schnell is another shot back after a 76 in the morning and a 77 in the second round. Sophomore Judd Cornell is at 154 after rounds of 78 and 76, while J.J. Sullivan is tied for 44th place at 155 after posting rounds of 80 and 75.

Arkansas Little-Rock’s Patrick Sullivan holds a two-shot lead at 140, after shooting a tournament-low 66 in the second round. Reynolds’ afternoon 69 was tied for the second-best round by any player on Monday.

The tournament concludes with 18 holes on Tuesday. The Squire Creek Invitational is the final event of Nebraska’s fall schedule.
