With the loss, Nebraska fell to 6-6 on the season and 0-2 in the tournament. Georgia Tech improved to 13-1 overall. The Huskers conclude pool play Saturday when they face Virginia Tech at 11:30 a.m. Bracket play begins Saturday afternoon.
“Summer came out did exactly what we asked her to do,” Nebraska Coach Rhonda Revelle said. “She followed the game plan perfectly. She put us in position to win, but we’re having a hard time capitalizing on scoring opportunities.”
Jessica Sallinger (7-0) was the winning pitcher, holding NU to one hit and striking out 10 Huskers. Sophomore outfielder Trisha Tannahill recorded NU’s only hit, a single to right field in the top of the fourth inning. The Huskers left five runners on base against Tech.
The Yellow Jackets picked up their first hit of the game when Tara Knudsen sent a one-out single to left. Liz Bartle followed and singled to short. After Soraya Reddick lined out, Wissman sent a two-out single down the left field line to score Knudsen for the 1-0 win.
