Huskers Finish Tied for 8th Place

Buckeye, Ariz. ? The Nebraska men’s golf team fired a final round 297 on Saturday at the Steve Kerr Invitational at Sundance Golf Club in Buckeye, Ariz. The Huskers’ strong final round helped them to finish in a three-way tie for 8th after entering the day in 10th.

All five Huskers competing for the team finished in the 70s in the final round, led by freshman Brady Schnell’s 72. Schnell’s score was enough to push him into a tie for 22nd with a three round total of 223. Freshman Drew Reynolds fired a 74 to place him in a tie for 30th with a final score of 225. Senior Chris Hartwig (228), JJ Sullivan (229) and sophomore Judd Cornell (229) rounded out the field for NU.

Freshman Tom Bethel, competing as an individual in the tournament, was the top performer among all Huskers. Bethel fired a final round 73 to finish tops among the individuals and in 13th place overall with a final score of 219.

Denver’s Barrett Jarosch finished in first place at the Invitational after firing a 68 in the final round for a three round total of 205. Colorado State won the tournament with a team score of 873, followed by UTEP (874), Xavier (880), Indiana (881), Denver (883) and Utah (887).

The Huskers will next see action March 27-28 at the Pepsi Cola Invitational at Tanglewood Resort in Pottsboro, Tex.
