Dallas, Texas ? Freshman Brittany Timko scored the only Nebraska goal in a 1-1 tie against the Tennessee Lady Vols in the Huskers’ opening spring soccer game Sunday morning in Dallas, Texas.
Timko was assisted by fellow freshman Ashley Tenn on the goal.
"We played well in terms of creating opportunities," Head Coach John Walker said. "We obviously would have liked to have finished off more chances, but overall I was pleased with how we played."
The Huskers were only able to post one goal on the scoreboard despite creating several scoring opportunities throughout the game.
"It was a good start to the spring season," Walker said.
Tennessee had a solid 2003 season, making it to the NCAA Sweet 16, where the Vols fell to Florida 1-0 on a penalty kick. Tennessee went 17-5-2 during the 2003 regular season.
The Huskers will travel to Chapel Hill next weekend to take on defending national champions North Carolina on Sunday, April 4. Nebraska fell to the Tar Heels, 6-0, during the fall season. NU wrapped up its season in the second round of the NCAA Tournament, where the Huskers fell 4-1 to Portland and finished with a 13-8-1 overall record.
