The Nebraska volleyball team improved to 5-0 in spring exhibition matches with three victories at the Kansas State Invitational Saturday afternoon. The Huskers defeated two teams that ended the 2004 season ranked in the USA Today/AVCA Coaches poll, beating Kansas State, 30-27, 30-25, and Colorado State, 30-9, 30-24. NU also defeated Wichita State, 30-26, 30-28.
No statistics were kept in the tournament, but Nebraska Coach John Cook said the competition still served as a good measuring stick for the Huskers.
"It was a great competition, and all of the teams were solid," Cook said. "We have some things to work on, but I thought we served well and played good defense. Offensively, we were pretty balanced, and it was a great team effort."
Nebraska continues its spring exhibition schedule Saturday, April 17, when it faces Minnesota at 7 p.m. at the NU Coliseum. The Huskers’ match against the Gophers is their only home date of the spring. Tickets can be purchased online at Huskers.com or by calling the ticket office at 1-800-8-BIGRED.
