Elmer, Saleaumua Star in Victory Over Minnesota

Lincoln -- Junior middle blocker Melissa Elmer and junior outside hitter Jennifer Saleaumua combined for 31 kills to lead the Nebraska volleyball team to a 30-25, 30-28, 24-30, 30-24 victory over Minnesota Saturday night at the NU Coliseum. Elmer, who also had six blocks, tallied 15 kills while hitting at a .510 clip. Saleaumua posted 16 kills and hit .340.

Sophomores Christina Houghtelling and Dani Mancuso each posted 11 kills. Sophomore Dani Busboom set the entire match and recorded 54 assists. Husker setter Michelle Lynch was sidelined with soreness in her back.

"I thought Dani had a pretty good night," NU Coach John Cook said. "She got a little wild in the third game, but settled down in the fourth and did a great job. She has made great improvement."

"Michelle could have played tonight, but she has gotten a little tight in her back. We decided to rest her instead of risking anything during the spring."

A crowd of 1,704 watched as the Huskers improved to 6-0 in the spring exhibition season. NU concludes its spring schedule when it travels to Minnesota April 24 for a 6 p.m. match.
