Husker Volleyball Receives AVCA Team Academic Award

Lincoln ? The University of Nebraska volleyball team received another academic honor this week, as the America Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) announced its Team Academic Awards for the 2003-04 year.

The Huskers were one of only 46 NCAA Division I programs to receive this prestigious honor, which has been awarded annually since 1993 to high school and collegiate programs that maintain at least a 3.30 cumulative team grade-point average on a 4.0 scale or a 4.10 cumulative team GPA on a 5.0 scale during the previous school year.

Nebraska and Kansas State were the only two Big 12 teams to earn the honor during 2003-04, while the 46 schools recognized by the AVCA is the second-highest Division I total in the program’s history. The 2003-04 award marks the Huskers’ 10th award in the program’s 12-year existence, a total which ties Morehead State for the all-time lead among Division I programs.
