Junior Nikki Baker also added two goals for Nebraska (4-3), which set season-highs in goals, assists (four), shots (32) and shots on goal (13). Northern Colorado dropped to 1-6 with the loss.

“It was a good performance,” NU Head Coach John Walker said. “Any time you score early goals, it allows you to play with confidence.”

The Huskers scored early and often against the Bears, tallying five goals in the first half. Senior Brooke Bredenberg scored the first goal at 3:01, collecting a rebound and finding the back of the net following a Timko shot.

Timko then scored back-to-back goals just over two minutes apart to blow the game open. The Coquitlam, B.C., native scored an unassisted goal at 9:48 and beat UNC’s goalkeeper Chrissy Marvin one-on-one off an assist by junior Sasha Andrews 1:04 later.

Junior Katie Bunkers headed a ball into the back of the net off a corner kick from Timko at 21:17 to put the Huskers up 4-0.

Baker closed out the scoring in the first half with a goal from 10 yards out at 24:32.

Baker again found the back of the net off assists by Timko and sophomore Tanya Dennis just 8:10 into the second half to increase Nebraska’s lead to six goals.

Timko capped off the night with a goal at 60:18, scoring off an assist from senior Lindsey Ingram. For the night, Timko finished with three goals, three assists and nine points. She tied the school single-game record for points in a game, and finished one assist and one point shy of tying the Nebraska single-game record.

In goal, sophomore Katie Wright recorded one save in posting her third shutout of the season.

Nebraska wraps up an eight-game homestand on Sunday. The Huskers will play host to Montana at 1 p.m. at the Abbott Sports Complex. Live audio, as well as live stats, for that contest will be available on Huskers.com.
