The Nebraska’s men’s golf team posted a round of 291 on Monday in the first round of the Ron Moore Intercollegiate and sits fourth in the 16-team field. Darkness suspended second-round play on Monday evening, leaving all teams with a few holes to play on Tuesday morning to complete their second round.<?xml:namespace prefix="o" ns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office"?>
The Huskers’ 291 team total on the par-72, 7,129 Riverdale Dunes Golf Course left them tied with <?xml:namespace prefix="st1" ns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags"?>San Diego for fourth place, 13 strokes behind team leader Arizona. Towson is in second place at 286, followed by Hawaii at 289.
Individually, Nebraska was led in the first round by sophomore Brady Schnell who carded a one-under par 71 to tie for 10th place. Junior Judd Cornell posted an even-par round of 72 and was tied for 13th place after the opening round. Chris Bruening and Tom Bethel each posted rounds of 74 to tie for 32nd place, while Drew Reynolds rounded out the Husker lineup with a 75, good for a tie for 41st place.
Arizona’s Travis Esway lead the individual race with a six-under par 66, good for a two-shot lead over three players.
The 16-team field will complete the second round early on Tuesday morning, before moving right into the third and final round.
