Austin, Texas - The Nebraska swimming and diving team participated in the second day of the Texas Invitational on Friday, finishing with 163 points to remain in seventh place in the 14-team field.
Junior Amie Buoy tallied the highest individual finish for NU, placing eighth in the one-meter diving competition with 258.80 points.
The Huskers’ most successful event of the day came in the 400-yard IM. Sophomore Lauren Bailey was one of four Huskers to place in the top 20, finishing 10th in 4:23.41. Fellow sophomores Casey Schnack finished 12th (4:25.71) and Bailey Ingles finished 18th (4:28.84) and freshman Besty Grover finished 20th (4:35.74).
"That was one of the highlights of the day," Head Coach Pablo Morales said. "Bailey (Ingles) has dropped tremendous time in that event and they all swam really well."
Freshman Adrienne Goodman came up big in the 100-yard breaststroke with a 14th-place finish (1:06.14). Rachel Schlatter was right behind Goodman, finishing 15th in 1:06.32.
Goodman, Grover, senior Diana Torres and freshman Lynn Siemert put together Nebraska’s best performance of the day in the 200-yard medley relay, finishing ninth in 1:47.48.
In the other relay event of the day, the team of Bailey, Michelle Criss, Katie Bowden and Kate Wheeler swam a season-best 7:33.47 in the 800-yard freestyle relay, finishing in tenth-place.
Saturday, the Huskers look forward to solid performances from their distance core in the 1,650-yard freestyle, one of the teams' best events.
Preliminary events start at 10 a.m. with the finals beginning at 6 p.m.
