“Overall, our team showed good fight and spirit,” said head coach Mark Manning.  “Our guys wrestled really hard.”

Nebraska’s shutout of Ohio was its third of the season.  At the Nebraska Duals earlier in the year, the Huskers shut out Findlay and DanaCollege.  Also, last season at the Virginia Duals, NU defeated ArizonaState 37-(-1).

The win over Ohio was highlighted by B.J. Wright’s pin of third-ranked Jake Percival 55 seconds into the second period of their match.  Jacob Klein followed with a pin of Tony DeAnna 4:42 into their match at 165 pounds.  In all, the Huskers earned three wins by fall during the dual, including a pin by Matt Keller 38 seconds into his match with Caleb Metcalf.  Travis Pascoe also registered a win by technical fall at 184 pounds, defeating Brian Caesar, 20-5.

Earlier in the day, Nebraska won seven of 10 matches, including four in a row, to defeat North Carolina.

After a 9-3 win by Matt Keller at 125 pounds and a pin by UNC 133-pound wrestler Evan Sola, Nebraska picked up four straight wins to seal the victory.  The streak started with a 9-3 victory by Matt Murray over Isaiah Britton at 141 pounds.  David Ingalls followed with an 8-4 win over Christopher Ramos at 149 pounds.  B.J. Wright gave NU its first of back-to-back bonus-point triumphs with a pin of Kyle Shelton 31 seconds into their match.  165-pound wrestler Jacob Klein followed with a 12-4 major decision win over Garrett Atkinson.

After a 7-6 setback at 174 pounds, Travis Pascoe gave Nebraska its third bonus-point win, a 14-6 major decision over Justin Dobies to put the Huskers ahead, 23-9.  B.J. Padden gave Nebraska its seventh victory of the match with a 3-2 decision over David Dashiell.  North Carolina heavyweight Spencer Nadolsky closed the dual with a 5-3 win over Jon May.

Nebraska, now 11-1-1 on the 2004-05 season, will wrestle in the semifinals against Rider, who defeated Cal State-Bakersfield in the quarterfinals, 26-18, at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Hampton Coliseum in Hampton, Va.
