The tournament was originally scheduled for 54 holes, but Monday’s second round was cancelled because of rain in the Houston area. The Rice Intercollegiate is Nebraska’s first action since finishing its fall season in the first week of November.

Nebraska will enter Tuesday’s action just one shot behind Sam Houston State, who opened with a 294. The Huskers’ 295 is four shots better than North Texas (299) who sits in third place, while Memphis and host Rice are tied for fourth place at 300.

Individually, Nebraska was led by sophomore Ryan Lenahan, who is tied for the tournament lead after posting a one-under par 71 on the 6,954-yard, par 72 layout. Lenahan had a 34 on the front side at The Highlands Course and posted a 37 on the back nine, leaving him in a tie for the lead with Anthony Broussard of North Texas, Jordan Krantz of UT-Arlington and Heon Young Lee of Rice.

Junior Kent Schreiner posted a 73 to tie for sixth place, while freshman Chris Bruening is tied for 19th after opening with a 75. Sophomore Drew Reynolds sits in a tie for 28th place, while Nebraska’s No. 1 golfer, junior Judd Cornell struggled to an 81 and is tied for 70th place. Sophomore Brady Schnell is competing as an individual in the tournament and is tied for 19th place.

The tournament concludes with the final round on Tuesday, beginning with an 8 a.m. shotgun start.
