Selig concluded her day on a high note by running a personal-best time of 25.05 in the 200-meter dash. She also recorded marks of 14.44 in the 100-meter hurdles, 5-5 ? in the high jump and 36-5 ? in the shot put. Her closest collegiate competition is SouthwestMissouriState’s Tracy Partain, who owns a score of 3,342.
Teammate Sara Jane Baker sits close behind Selig with a fifth-place total of 3,189. She also claimed a career-best in the 200 with a time of 25.42, while recording marks of 14.82 in the hurdles, 5-8 in the high jump and 35-6 in the shot put.
Casie Witte stretched her strong start to the outdoor season through Thursday by amassing a score of 3,134, which is good for sixth place. Witte became the third Husker to post a career performance in the 200 with a time of 26.17, while she approached her own standards in each of the three other events.
NU also features a pair of competitors in the men’s decathlon. Lee Martin (seventh) posted the best score for a Husker with 3,445 points and set a personal best of 50.53 in the 400-meter dash. Martin is on pace to surpass his career-high score of 6,712. Kyle Goerl sits in 15th place with 3,186 points, while Pat Pyle (unattached) leads the decathlon with 3,870 points.
Nebraska continues the Walton Combined Events Carnival Friday at 11 a.m. Four Huskers also will compete at the Mt. SAC Relays in Walnut, Calif., at 2 p.m.
