Lincoln - The Husker volleyball team is wrapping up its spring schedule this week in a unique way, holding a sand volleyball tournament Thursday afternoon.
The team was split up into two-player groups and squared off against each other. The tournament got through five rounds before a Thursday evening rainfall postponed the final two rounds until Monday (weather permitting). Although the event was shortened by rain, the NU players and coaches enjoyed the opportunity to step on the court and square off
"It was a fun way to end the spring," setter Michelle Lynch, who has missed the spring because of off-season surgery but is serving as the tournament director. "Our team get that competitive edge against each other and it is great for conditioning. It is tougher to play in the sane because it is harder to move and jump, and you have to cover the whole court with only two players."
Head Coach John Cook leads the individual players with a 5-0 record, two games ahead of Christina Houghtelling and Dani Mancuso. Complete standings are listed below.
