<?xml:namespace prefix="st1" ns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags"?>Lincoln ? The Nebraska track and field teams were honored for their success in the classroom this week when 64 student-athletes earned recognition on the 2005 Big 12 Commissioner’s Spring Honor Roll. Athletes must earn a 3.0 grade-point average to qualify for the award.<?xml:namespace prefix="o" ns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office"?>
Nine 2005 Huskers (five women, four men) led the group with perfect 4.0 GPAs during the spring semester: Kyle Doperalski, Kyle Goerl, Elizabeth Lange, Michaela Lenihan, Betsy Miller, Justine Roach, Kim Shubert, Paul Wilson and Issar Yazhbin.
Each of Nebraska’s four individual national champions were honored, including Priscilla Lopes, Dmitrijs Milkevics, Ashley Selig and Anne Shadle, while a total of six former Huskers who have exhausted their eligibility were also honored.
Included in the total were 18 Huskers who have competed in cross country at some time during their career. Fifteen of 18 members of last season’s men’s and women’s cross country squads were honored, including nine of the 10 women’s athletes.
Overall, Nebraska had 274 student-athletes named to the spring honor roll, including 37 who produced perfect 4.0 GPAs during the spring semester.
