Lincoln ? Nebraska Assistant A.D. for Ticketing John Anderson announced Thursday that all 2005 regular-season matches at the NU Coliseum are officially sold out, just nine days after tickets went on sale to the general public.
Anderson said the final general admission tickets were sold Wednesday, marking the first time in program history the entire regular season at the Coliseum has been sold out prior to the start of the season.
Nebraska Head Coach John Cook said the sellout streak at the Coliseum, which has been sold out 56 straight times entering the 2005 campaign, is a testament to both the players and the fans who loyally support the Big Red.
“It is a reflection that we have put a together a talented team with great kids with almost half of our team from Nebraska,” Cook said. “They are great student-athletes who represent the University of Nebraska at a high level, and they want to be a part of it. We appreciate the support of our fans, and they are an important part of our team.”
Fans who want to see the Huskers in person still have several options to choose from. Tickets for the Red/White scrimmage, set for Saturday, Aug. 20, at 7 p.m., are available for purchase from the NU Ticket Office (402-472-3111 or 800-8-BIGRED). Prices are $6 (adults) and $4 (children and seniors) and all seating is general admission. The Red/White scrimmage will also feature several other activities which will be announced in the coming days.
Nebraska will also play one home match at the 13,595-seat Bob Devaney Sports Center, when it takes on Pacific on Saturday, Sept. 10, at 2 p.m. The start time was set to accommodate Nebraska’s football game against Wake Forest, which will start at 6 p.m.
Another option for fans is to purchase tickets to the AVCA/NACWAA College Volleyball showcase at the Qwest Center OMAHA on Aug. 26-27. The field at the Qwest Center, which will also host the 2005 NCAA Volleyball Regional and 2006 NCAA Volleyball Championships, will include four of the top five teams in the AVCA Preseason poll, including third-ranked Stanford, fourth-ranked Hawaii and fifth-ranked Penn State along with the top-ranked Huskers.
