After defeating Arkansas in its first dual meet of the season and placing fifth at the Big 12 Relays, the Nebraska swimming and diving team will return to the Devaney Center Pool for its first regular-season home meets of the year.
The Huskers will host in-state opponent Nebraska-Omaha on Friday at 5 p.m., before turning around to face Northern Iowa less than 24 hours later on Saturday at 2 p.m. This will mark the second straight weekend in which Nebraska has underwent two meets in two days, after hitting the road for the Big 12 Relays and a dual meet at Arkansas last Friday and Saturday.
Although these are the Huskers’ first regular-season home meets, NU has spent competition time in the Devaney Center Pool this season after hosting the Red/White Intrasquad and Alumni Meet in the past three weeks.
Nebraska started the season on a strong note last Friday when it picked up its first event victory at the Big 12 Relays under Head Coach Pablo Morales when the relay team of juniors Kate Wheeler, Casey Schnack and Lauren Bailey took first in the 1,500-yard freestyle relay. On Saturday in Fayetteville, Ark., the Huskers finished a strong weekend by defeating Arkansas 184-115 behind three individual victories from Bailey and a sweep on the diving boards by senior Amie Buoy.
With two home meets this weekend, the Huskers will be looking to start the home season 2-0 for the third straight year. In those seasons, Nebraska has used the perfect home start to go on to a combined 15-3 dual record, with only one loss coming at the Devaney Center Pool.
Nebraska will take a week off after this weekend, before hosting both Missouri State and South Dakota State at the Devaney Center Pool on Nov. 5 at 3 p.m.

The Huskers will be looking for their 10th victory over Nebraska-Omaha on Friday, as they lead the all-time series 9-0 after a 66-38 victory in <?xml:namespace prefix="st1" ns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags"?>Omaha last season.
The Mavericks have competed in just one regular season meet this season, as they placed fourth with 90 points at the Mankato Relays last Friday, Oct. 15 in St. Peter, Minn.
Sixteen Nebraska natives are on the UNO roster this season, including one Lincoln native in freshman Katie Hubbell, who graduated from LincolnEastHigh School with current Husker Jenna Stroud.
Eight different Huskers won events in last year’s meet versus the Mavs, and seniors Jamie Grogan and Ashley Renshaw will lead the Mavs into Lincoln as the only returners who won an event last year against Nebraska.
Nebraska is also perfect against Northern Iowa with a 2-0 all-time record.
The Panthers open their season on Friday night when they take on South Dakota in Vermillion, S.D., before traveling to Lincoln for their matchup with Nebraska.
The Panthers were fifth in the Missouri Valley Conference a year ago, but return 10 letterwinners to the team this season, led by the lone senior, Kendra Ryan.
UNI and NU have similarities in schedules this season, as the Panthers also take on Nebraska-Omaha and IowaState later this season.
