Husker Volleyball to be Honored Saturday at MBB Game

Lincoln ? The Nebraska volleyball team’s successful 2005 campaign will be celebrated Saturday evening during the men’s basketball game against Baylor.

The Huskers, who finished 33-2 and second in the country, will be honored during halftime festivities. The team will also take part in an autograph session following the ceremony on the Devaney Center concourse. AVCA National Player of the Year Christina Houghtelling and two-time All-American Sarah Pavan will be among the players available for autographs.

Fans that come to Saturday’s men’s basketball game, which tips off at 8 p.m., will also have an opportunity to purchase a limited edition poster celebrating the Huskers’ Big 12 volleyball championship. A total of 250 individually number posters will be available for $5 each with a limit of two posters per person.

Nebraska won the Big 12 title with a 19-1 record and placed five players on the All-Big 12 team including Pavan, who was the Big 12 Player of the Year, Houghtelling and freshman Jordan Larson. All-Americans Melissa Elmer and Jennifer Saleaumua will not be at Saturday’s game, as they are playing professionally in Puerto Rico.

The Husker men’s basketball team (14-6 overall and 4-3 in the Big 12) will be looking for its third straight win following a 59-57 victory at Oklahoma State Tuesday evening.
