197-pound wrestler B.J. Padden was named to the first team. A senior industrial technology education major, the <?xml:namespace prefix="st1" ns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags"?>Buffalo, S.D., native earned his first academic all-conference citation, adding to an already impressive resume of accomplishments both on the mat and in the classroom. Padden was an All-American last year and will defend his Big 12 championship on Saturday.
It is also the first academic All-Big 12 citation for 157-pound wrestler David Ingalls. The management major from Hazel, S.D., has contributed in Nebraska’s starting lineup at 157 and 165 pounds over the past three years.
The two honorees continue Nebraska’s tradition of academic excellence. In Mark Manning’s six years as the head coach of the Huskers, NU has landed 22 wrestlers on the Academic All-Big 12 squad.
