<?xml:namespace prefix="st1" ns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags"?>LINCOLN ? The Nebraska track and field teams were honored for their success in the classroom this week when 67 current and former student-athletes earned recognition on the Big 12 Commissioner’s Fall Honor Roll. Athletes must earn a 3.0 grade-point average to qualify for the award.<?xml:namespace prefix="o" ns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office"?>
Thirty-three Husker women’s athletes were recognized for their academic accomplishments, including a staggering nine with perfect 4.0 grade-point averages: Joslyn Dalton, Ashlee Dickinson, Ari Goldstein, Michaela Lenihan, Betsy Miller, Lisa Minnick, Kelsi Murman, Kim Shubert and Kayte Tranel.
Several Husker women made the honor roll for the seventh consecutive semester, including Sara Jane Baker, Dickinson, Nicole Kadyszewski, Lenihan, Ashley Selig, Jamie Senkbile and Jeni Steiner. Former Nebraska pole vaulter Christie (Lehman) Krug earned her ninth career appearance on Big 12 honor roll, as well as her seventh straight bid.
Junior Issar Yazhbin led a men’s track and field group of 34 honorees, as he posted a perfect 4.0 GPA during the fall for the fourth consecutive semester. Former Husker Eric Rasmussen and current NU pole vaulter Danny Tylka earned recognition for the seventh straight semester, and ninth overall, while Martin and Aaron Plas also made their seventh straight honor rolls.
A total of 22 (20 freshmen, two sophomores) Huskers were named to the Honor Roll in their first semester at NU.
Overall, Nebraska had 235 student-athletes named to the fall honor roll, including 35 who produced perfect 4.0 GPAs during the fall semester.
