The par-70, 7,055-yard course, home to the U.S. Open in 2001, is playing host to the Big 12 Championships for the second time in conference history.
The Huskers posted a team score of 291 through the first round, leaving them just two strokes out of a spot in the top three. Texas and Oklahoma stand in a tie for first with a team score of 285, while Texas Tech, Texas A&M and Baylor are all tied for third with a team score of 289.<?xml:namespace prefix="o" ns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office"?>
Junior Brady Schnell led all golfers through the first round by posting a 68. Schnell was even on the front nine with a 35 and ended two-under par by posting four birdies on the back nine.
Senior Judd Cornell was next for the Huskers with a 72, while junior Drew Reynolds posted a 74. Freshman Trent Price filled the fourth spot for the Huskers with a 77, while Ty Capps rounded out Nebraska’s lineup with a 79.
The Huskers continue Monday’s action with the second round of 18 holes of the Big 12 Championships directly following the first round.
