Carroll Track and Soccer Stadium, as a pair of Nebraska athletes were in action. <?xml:namespace prefix="o" ns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office"?>
Becky Breisch, who collected bronze-medal honors Saturday in the women’s discus competition, finished her weekend with a seventh-place finish in the women’s shot put. The 2004 NCAA outdoor champion in the shot, Breisch recorded a mark of 56-6 ? on her first attempt of the event finals. Jillian Camarena, who was competing unattached, easily outdistanced the field by more than two feet to win the national title with a mark of 62-1.
Sophomore Dusty Jonas added seventh-place honors in the men’s high jump. Jonas was able to clear the competition’s opening height of 7-0 ?, but failed to reach the next height of 7-2 ?. The meet marked the Husker All-American’s first national senior competition, as he won the USA junior title last summer. Tora Harris (Shore Athletic Club) earned the event crown by clearing 7-7 ?.
The Huskers finished the week with a pair of medals at the USA Outdoor Championships, as Breisch and junior Kayla Wilkinson eached earned bronze medals in the women's discus and women's javelin, respectively.
