Lincoln ?The University of Nebraska Ticket Office announced that single-match volleyball tickets for the 2007 season will go on sale next Wednesday, Aug. 1, at 8 a.m.
Single-match ticket prices for the upcoming season are set at $16 (floor and limited view seats), $10 (adult general admission) and $8 (youth/seniors general admission). Fans are limited to two tickets per regular-season home match at the NU Coliseum.
Tickets can be purchased on the Internet at Huskers.com, in person at the Athletic Ticket Office, located across the street from Memorial Stadium beginning at 8 a.m. or by calling 1-800-8-BIGRED. Ticket Office hours are from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
In addition to the matches at the NU Coliseum, Wednesday will be the first time that tickets will be available for the Sunday, Oct. 21 match against national power Hawaii at the Bob Devaney Sports Center. General admission tickets for that match are $10 for adults and $8 for youth and can be purchased on Huskers.com or at the NU Ticket Office.
Tickets for the annual Red/White scrimmage on Saturday, Aug, 18, are also now on sale. That evening, the national championship banner will be unveiled and the Huskers will receive their championship rings. Prices for the Red/White scrimmage are $10 for adults and $8 for youth and seniors. In addition, there is no cost for UNL students with a valid student ID and children ages 6 and under.
The Huskers will play 15 regular-season matches in Lincoln this season, including nine against teams that reached the 2006 NCAA Tournament. Nebraska will also host two tournaments, the Holiday Inn Downtown Classic (Aug. 31-Sept. 3) and the Ameritas Players Challenge (Sept. 7-8). NCAA qualifiers on the Coliseum home slate include Cal Poly (Sept. 3), Duke (Sept. 7), New Mexico or Louisville (Sept. 8), Texas (Sept. 12), Iowa State (Oct. 10), Missouri (Oct. 31), Colorado (Nov. 7) and Oklahoma (Nov. 17).
The Huskers return six starters from last season’s national championship team, including 2006-07 Honda-Broderick Cup winner Sarah Pavan, along with fellow AVCA All-Americans Jordan Larson, Tracy Stalls and Rachel Holloway. In addition, the Huskers regain the services of 2005 AVCA National Player of the Year Christina Houghtelling, who missed all of last season with a shoulder injury. The Huskers also welcome a recruiting class that is ranked in the top five nationally by Volleyball Magazine and Prepvolleyball.com.
