Husker Men Move Up to No. 6 in National Poll

<?xml:namespace prefix="st1" ns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags"?>Lincoln ? The Husker men’s track team has vaulted up to the No. 6 spot in the first USTFCCCA (United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association) poll of the indoor season. Nebraska was ranked No. 12 in the preseason poll.

This season the Huskers will look to defend their Big 12 Conference indoor title, and also make a strong run at the national competition. Strong performances early by NCAA automatic qualifier Dusty Jonas (high jump) and NCAA provisional qualifiers Scott Wims (200-meter dash), Lukas Hulett (400-meter dash) and Paul Hamilton (high jump) along with a well balanced influx of veterans and newcomers have helped the Husker men become a legitimate contender on the national stage.

NU will be in action this Friday and Saturday when it plays host to the 33rd Annual Frank Sevigne Husker Invitational. A total of 22 teams from across the country will travel to Lincoln to compete in the two-day event. Other USTFCCCA Top-25 men’s teams in attendance this weekend will be No. 8 Baylor, No. 12 Arizona, No. 15 Idaho and No. 22 Florida State.<?xml:namespace prefix="o" ns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office"?>
