The No. 1 Nebraska bowling team will go up against several former Huskers in a tournament on Saturday, March 29, at the East Campus Bowling lanes in Lincoln, Neb.
The first match is slated to begin at 9:30 Saturday morning and will end at noon. A second match will start at 1 p.m. and finish at approximately 4 p.m. The tournament is free to the public.
Seven former Huskers will be competing against the current Nebraska team, including Shannon Pluhowsky, Jamie Martin, Kim (Berke) Straub, Jen (Wilson) Miseno, Mandy (Yost) Boltz, Jen (Davis) Korn and Stacy (Rogers) Horsham.
Pluhowsky comes back to the Husker lanes as one of the most celebrated bowlers in Nebraska history. The three-time first-team All-American was a member of three National Championship teams while at Nebraska. Pluhowsky has been a member of Team USA for eight years and is the only female bowler in history to win three consecutive U.S. Amateur titles in 2002, 2003 and 2004.
Martin, a 2006 Nebraska graduate, was a 2005 second-team All-American and helped the Husker bowlers capture two NCAA titles during her career. Straub was the 1992 National Collegiate Bowler of the Year and a four-time All-American for the Huskers. Miseno (1991), Korn (1998) and Rogers (2000) were also former Husker All-Americans. Boltz was also apart of two National Championships for the Huskers in 1999 and 2001.
Since the Huskers were unable to attend the Music City Classic two weeks ago, the one-day tournament will give NU the opportunity to compete prior to the NCAA Championship tournament on April 10-12 in Omaha, Neb at Thunder Alley.
