<?xml:namespace prefix="st1" ns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags"?>Lincoln? The Nebraska swimming and diving team turned in another impressive effort in the classroom this past semester as 19 Huskers were named to the Spring 2008 Big 12 Commissioner’s Honor Roll.<?xml:namespace prefix="o" ns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office"?>

A total of 270 Nebraska student-athletes earned the honor, including 36 who achieved a perfect 4.0 grade-point average. The swimming and diving team contributed nearly 17 percent of the 4.0 grade point-averages in freshman Emily Burbach, freshman Julie Giehl, sophomore Kelsey Ida, junior Courtney Jolly, senior Kate Wheeler and sophomore Sarah Ziegelmann.

Wheeler was one of two former Huskers on the list in addition to Lauren Bailey. Each completed their athletic eligibility following the 2006-07 season.

Jolly’s 4.0 grade-point average gave her a seventh appearance on the Big 12 Commissioner’s Honor Roll. Jolly has been with the Husker program for four seasons, but will be a senior in 2008-09 following a redshirt year in 2004-05.

Junior Christina Yemm was named to the list for the sixth consecutive semester, while four sophomores - Ida, Ziegelmann, Kaitlin Arntz and Sarah Broker ? made it four straight awards.

Seven of Nebraska’s 19 honorees were freshmen, including five who made it back-to-back selections.

Over the past four seasons, 76 percent of head coach Pablo Morales’ swimming and diving team has met the minimum 3.0 grade-point average requirement to be named to the Big 12 Commissioner’s Honor Roll.
