<?xml:namespace prefix="st1" ns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags"?>Lincoln, Neb.-Eleven members of the Nebraska men’s gymnastics team earned spots on the Big 12 Commissioner’s Spring Honor Roll this week, which recognizes a grade point average of 3.0 or higher during the spring semester. <?xml:namespace prefix="o" ns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office"?>
The list of Husker honorees features all 11 gymnasts as repeat selections, including freshmen Cory Baumgarten, Bear Danley and Matthew Forrest, sophomores Garret Durst, Josh Rusler, Stefan Wallof and Kyle Shanahan, juniors Bo Benak and Jacob Ives and seniors Eric Daigle and Stephen Tetrault.
Tetrault, a mathematics major, headlines the Husker gymnasts with seven selections to the honor roll. The Lincoln, Neb., native is also a first-team Academic All-American and a third-team Academic All-American and a two-time CoSIDA Academic All-District At-Large selection. He was recently named Nebraska’s Male Student-Athlete of the Year and the 2008 Jim Hartung Award recipient. Tetrault, a three-time NCAA All-American, is also a three-time College Gymnastics Association First-Team Academic All-American and a three-time Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Academic All-Conference member.
Daigle and Benak, both industrial technology education majors from Omaha, Neb., earned their fifth selections to the honor roll. Daigle is also a two-time Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Academic All-Conference member.
Sophomores Durst and Rusler, both broadcasting majors, and Wallof, a civil engineering major, each gained their fourth selection to the list. Ives, an actuarial science major, earned his third selection, while Baumgarten, Danley, Forrest and Shanahan each earned their second selections.
Nebraska athletes captured 270 Big 12 Commissioner’s honor roll selections across 20 sports.
