The Nebraska volleyball team looks to keep its season alive tonight, as the seventh-ranked Huskers take on No. 2 Texas tonight at the Qwest Center. First serve for the third match up of the season between the Huskers and Longhorns is slated for 8 p.m. Tickets are available for $21 (Lower & Upper Mezzanine) and $18 (Upper Bowl) and can be purchased online at Ticketmaster.com or by phone 800-745-3000 or at the Qwest Center Box Office.
Fans can listen to Nebraska’s match on selected Husker Sports Network stations, including B107.3 FM in Lincoln and Twister 93.3 FM in Omaha, and on Huskers.com with John Baylor and Diane Mendenhall. The match will also be televised nationally on ESPNU with Sam Gore and Volleyball Hall of Famer Holly McPeak calling all of the action court side. The Omaha Regional is the third of four regional final telecast across the country on ESPNU.
The Huskers enter tonight’s match on a season-best 10-match win streak and have not dropped a set in that span. Last night, the Huskers relied on its balance in a sweep of No. 5 Iowa State, as four players had at least nine kills, as the Huskers hit .324 against a Cyclone defense that led the Big 12 in opponent hitting percentage (.144). Defensively, the Huskers held ISU to a season-low .096 hitting percentage and totaled eight blocks, including four each from and has now held its last seven opponents to a combined .096 hitting. This is the sixth time that Nebraska has faced a conference school in the NCAA Tournament, and the Huskers are 4-1 in those matches.
Texas comes into the match on a nine-match win streak after sweeping Texas A&M on Friday night. In that match, Destinee Hooker totaled 23 kills on .465 hitting, as the Longhorns hit .402 against the Aggies.
