This past weekend at the Holiday Inn Invitational at the Devaney Center Indoor Track, Jonas showed that he is jumping well early in the season, as he topped the IAAF World Indoor Championships indoor ?A’ standard of 7-5 3/4 with a clearance at 7-6. The mark currently ranks No. 2 in the world in 2010, trailing Sergey Mudrov’s (Russia) jump of 7-6 1/2. The IAAF World Championships are set for March 12-14 in Doha, Qatar.

A former eight-time All-American, Big 12 outdoor high jump champion and indoor high jump national champion for the Huskers from 2005 to 2008, Jonas has since signed a professional contact with Nike and competed at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, China, for Team USA. After earning his degree in horticulture last May, Jonas has returned to the Huskers for the 2010 season as a volunteer coach, working with the NU jumpers.
