Las Vegas, Nev. – Senior all-arounders Kyle Shanahan and John Robinson combined for nine top-30 finishes at the Winter Cup Challenge in Las Vegas, Nev., on Saturday night.
Although Shanahan was an at-large representative in the Winter Cup finals, he pulled together a score of 162.600 over two rounds for 23rd place in the all-around competition. Shanahan also tied for 22nd place on floor exercise with a total score of 27.85 and he tied for 23rd place on pommel horse with a combined total of 26.35. Shanahan also earned 22nd place on still rings (27.05) and high bar (26.70).
Robinson placed 30th in the all-around with a total combined score of 149.700. Robinson earned a score of 83.75 in the preliminaries, but had to scratch floor exercise in the final round, earning him a score of 65.95 on five events in the finals.
Robinson's best finish came on parallel bars, where he notched 14th place overall with a combined total of 27.70. He also earned an 18th-place finish on vault (30.600) and a 21st-place finish on still rings (27.25).
Robinson, Shanahan and the rest of the Nebraska men's gymnastics team will be back in action next weekend against Oklahoma on Feb. 13, at 7 p.m., in Norman, Okla.
