Following a weekend in Georgia, the Nebraska soccer team continues its spring season with another southern destination when it takes on Arizona State and BYU in Tempe, Ariz., this Saturday. For the second straight week, head coach John Walker's squad will be facing a pair of opponents who qualified for the 2009 NCAA Tournament.
The Huskers and Cougars will meet in the first match of the day at 4 p.m. CST, followed by the nightcap against Arizona State at 7 p.m CST.
BYU earned a fifth-straight NCAA Tournament berth in 2009 after winning the Mountain West Conference regular season title. The Cougars defeated UC Santa Barbara in the first round, but fell to then-No. 1 Stanford to finish the year with an 18-4-2 record.
Last September in Lincoln, Nebraska and Arizona State fought to a 1-1 deadlock in one of NU's most competitive non-conference battles of the season. The Sun Devils went on to a 9-7-4 campaign and qualified for the NCAA Tournament before they were knocked out of postseason play in a first-round shootout loss to Wisconsin.
Nebraska will take two weeks off following this weekend's road trip, returning to spring competition March 18 with a two matches against the Virginia Cavaliers in Charlottesville.
