One week after helping the Huskers win a road dual over Texas Tech by running the second-best wind-aided time in school history at 13.41 (+2.5), Lehann Fourie broke the stadium record in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 13.58 (-0.6). The time was just two-hundredths of a second off Fourie’s personal best of 13.56. Texas Tech’s Shawn Harris held the record entering the meet with a time of 13.62 at the 2008 NCAA Midwest Regional Championships.

Adams Wolkins then moved into the NCAA top 10 in the javelin with a personal-best throw of 233-9. The winning toss bettered Wolkins’ previous best of 232-5, which he produced in 2008 to win his second straight NJCAA national title while at Cowley Community College. He also came close to breaking fellow Husker Cory Lehman’s 2000 stadium record of 236-8.

Staying in the throws, Jade Hodson finished second overall and was the top collegiate competitor in the women’s hammer throw, as the Hastings, Neb., native improved on her previous best of 184-8 with a toss of 191-11. Hodson is the first Husker on the women’s side to surpass the 190-foot mark in the event since Amanda Moreley in 2003 and Hodson now ranks No. 5 on the NU all-time performance list.

Amanda Latsch then broke her personal best in the shot put by eight inches with a winning throw of 50-8. Morgan Wilken followed by breaking her previous best of 165-7 in the discus with a throw of 166-8.

Natalie Willer went after her own stadium record of 14-4 1/2 with tries at 14-4 3/4, but was unable to clear. Willer took the bar up to 14-4 3/4 after back-to-back first-attempt clearances at 13-8 1/4 and 14-0.

Back on the track, Eric Lund finished the sweep of the 110 and 400 hurdles for the men with a time of 51.04. Lund has now set his personal best at back-to-back meets, after he ran 51.16 last weekend in Lubbock.

Former Husker Dusty Jonas also put on an impressive performance for the home crowd with a stadium-record tying jump of 7-7 3/4.  After clearing 7-6 on his third attempt, Jonas came up with a first-attempt make at 7-7 3/4, tying him with Kansas State’s Scott Sellers (2007). Jonas then tried to break the record with attempts at 7-8 1/2, but was unable to clear.

Now with the 2010 regular season in the books, the Huskers will set their attention on the postseason, which starts with the Big 12 Outdoor Championships. The meet is scheduled for Friday, May 14 ? Sunday, May 16 in Columbia, Mo. Check Huskers.com next week for more information.
