The Nebraska soccer team returns to the field for the 2010 season as it opens competition with an exhibition match Sunday afternoon at the University of Denver. The Huskers and Pioneers will kick off from CIBER Field at the University of Denver Soccer Stadium at 1 p.m. CST.

Sunday's game marks the only exhibition game for Nebraska, as the Huskers will travel to New Mexico for the 2010 season opener on Aug. 22.

Nebraska returns nine starters off last season's team that went 11-5-4 overall and finished fourth in the Big 12 Conference (5-3-2). The Huskers are led by returning 2009 Big 12 Offensive Player and Rookie of the Year Morgan Marlborough, a sophomore forward from Lee's Summit, Mo. Nebraska also brings back two-time All-Big 12 selection Molly Thomas, a junior midfielder/forward from Omaha, Neb. As underclassmen in 2009, the duo combined for 40 percent of the team's points (72-of-181).

The Pioneers are one of the top teams in the Sun Belt Conference, claiming the conference championship last season and advancing to the NCAA Tournament with a 17-6-1 record. Denver has seven returning starters this season under 19th-year head coach Jeff Hooker, who has compiled a 235-94-32 career record. Hooker and NU head coach John Walker have nearly indentical career records, as Walker is 236-91-21 in 16 years with the Huskers. Nebraska and Denver last met on the soccer field in a 2005 spring match when the Huskers downed the Pioneers, 5-0, in Lincoln.

Following two weeks on the road, the Huskers return for the home opener Aug. 27 against Loyola University at 5 p.m. Earlier that week, fans will have an opportunity to meet the 2010 Nebraska soccer team at the annual Meet-N-Beat. This year's event takes place Wednesday, Aug. 25 at the Nebraska Soccer Field at 6:30 p.m.
