Despite a solid outing from former Husker All-American Jordan Larson, the U.S. Women’s National Volleyball Team lost to Poland 3-1 (16-25, 26-24, 25-19, 25-23) on Sunday afternoon during preliminary pool play of the 18th FIVB World Grand Prix in Gdynia, Poland.<?xml:namespace prefix="o" ns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office"?>
Larson produced a solid all-round match, as she totaled eight kills, three aces and one block. Earlier in the week in a win over the Dominican Republic, 3-1, Larson tallied six kills and tied Foluke Akinradewo for the team lead in blocks with five a piece.
Team USA is now 1-2 in this year’s World Grand Prix and will travel next week to Bangkok, Thailand, for the second preliminary round. The team will face Italy on Aug. 13, Thailand on Aug. 14 and Puerto Rico on Aug. 15. The U.S. concludes pool play in Hong Kong with matches against Germany on Aug. 20, Thailand on Aug. 21 and China on Aug. 22.
