Eleven Huskers Named to 2010 Academic All-Big 12 Team

Nebraska placed eleven student-athletes on the 2010 Academic All-Big 12 Soccer Team, giving head coach John Walker's squad a double-digit total for the third straight year.

Nine of Nebraska's selections were First Team honorees. Leading that group was a trio of upperclassmen who earned their third consecutive award - junior Alexa Cardona, junior Katie Goetzmann and senior Anna White. In addition to White, senior classmates Colleen Goetzmann and Jaclyn White earned their second straight First Team accolade.

The sophomore scoring duo of Morgan Marlborough and Jordan Jackson, both All-Big 12 First Team selections on the field, were each named to the First Team, as well as redshirt freshman goalkeeper Emma Stevens.

Senior Michaella Fulmer and junior Blair Slapper were named to the Second Team, marking the third award for each.

The eleven selections on the 2010 Academic All-Big 12 Team gives Nebraska 119 honorees in program history.

In order to qualify, student-athletes must maintain a 3.00 grade-point average or higher either cumulative or the two previous semesters and must have participated in 60 percent of their team's scheduled contests. Freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first year of academic residence. Senior student-athletes who have participated for a minimum of two years and meet all the criteria except percent of participation are also eligible. First Team members consist of those who have maintained a 3.20 or better GPA, while Second Team honorees are those who have a 3.00 to 3.19 GPA.
