Greetings from San Juan
Greetings from San Juan
It's been a busy opening week with two games before spending most of yesterday traveling to San Juan for this week's tournament. As I type this, the Huskers are working out at a high school gym putting on the finishing touches of tomorrow's opener against Vanderbilt.
The Huskers had a 60-minute workout in the morning at the arena this morning and then Coach Sadler and Jorge Brian Diaz met with some of the Puerto Rico media before taking the bus ride across town for practice. As the only player from the island in the tournament, he was a topic of conversation throughout the presser and he was excited to return to the island last night when we landed. This Huskers' trip allows his mother and former coaches to see him play for the first time in person at Nebraska.
At the two exhibitions at the Devaney Center, you noticed a two-foot arc underneath the basket. It is a restricted circle for blocks/charges and it is also being used this weekend in Puerto Rico. The NCAA is experimenting with the rule and tournaments like this help provide an opportunity to gather data.
To answer one of the most commonly asked questions on Twitter, we had to change the way we had our gameday trivia contests for tickets. We are looking to find a way to reward the followers on the blog and also who follow Huskers.com, and hopefully we will that resolved in the near future.
As a reminder, tip off on Thursday is at 12:30 p.m. (central) and the game will be nationally televised on EPSNU and the Husker Sports Network broadcast begins at 11:30 a.m. with Kent and Andy.
