Marlborough Earns Nebraska?s 17th NSCAA All-America Award

Nebraska forward Morgan Marlborough has earned second-team All-America honors from the National Soccer Coaches of America Association (NSCAA), following another outstanding season as one of the top players in the country. Marlborough is the 11th Husker in school history to garner All-America honors, as Nebraska has claimed 17 awards since the program's inception in 1994.

"This is a well-deserved honor for Morgan," head coach John Walker said. "Not only did she have another fantastic season scoring goals, but she also improved her overall game, including leadership, passing, defending and work ethic. The exciting thing about Morgan is that her best soccer is still ahead of her."

A native of Lee's Summit, Mo., Marlborough led the Big 12 Conference in goals (18), assists (12) and points (48) to claim league offensive player of the year honors for the second straight season. She ranked second in the nation with 2.29 points per game, only two one-hundredths behind Stanford's Christen Press (2.31), while also ranking fourth in goals (0.857 per game) and seventh in assists (0.57 per game).

Through only two seasons, Marlborough is already seventh in goals (38) and eighth in points (97) in school history. She has 10 multiple-goal games, tied for the fourth-most on the NU all-time list.

Marlborough gained NSCAA All-America honors after she was named first-team All-Central Region last week, in addition to sophomore teammate Jordan Jackson, a third-team selection. The awards give Nebraska 50 NSCAA All-Central Region picks in school history, including two honorees for the third-straight season.

A native of Overland Park, Kan., Jackson was also a 2010 first-team All-Big 12 selection after she scored 12 goals and added nine assists this fall. She ranked second in the Big 12 with 33 points, an average of 1.57 per game that trailed only Marlborough and was tied for 18th nationally. Jackson had a team-best four game-winning goals in Nebraska's 13-win season. She was also named to the 2010 Big 12 All-Tournament Team as she led NU to the semifinals with two goals.

The Huskers have been well-represented on the NSCAA All-Central Region team, with Nebraska appearing on the list 14 times in 17 years.
