Columbus, Ohio- The Nebraska men's gymnastics team saw three individual competitors take part in the NCAA Championships on Friday night in Columbus, Ohio. Seniors Anthony Ingrelli and Bear Danley and sophomore Andreas Hofer all competed for a shot at All-America honors.
“I couldn’t be happier with how we competed today," Head Coach Chuck Chmelka said. "Although we didn’t come away with any All-America honors, all three guys had a great meet, and I am very proud of them."
Ingrelli (still rings) and Danley (high bar) competed for the last time as Huskers, as they both took shots at All-America honors.
Ingrelli, a 2010 still rings All-American, posted a solid 15.10, which was enough to finish 14th. He completed his impressive Husker career as a team co-captain and competed in almost every meet for NU over the last four years.
Out of 47 competitors who performed on high bar Friday night, Danley took 17th with a score of 14.50 in his first NCAA individual event finals. Danley, who has also been a key four-year contributor for Nebraska, closed out his NU career on a high note, scoring just one tenth of a point shy of his career high.
Hofer notched his best performance of the year on Friday in the all-around hitting 100 percent on his routines. He earned a career high on parallel bars with an impressive 14.90, and his 87.20 in the all-around was a season high. Hofer also tallied a 14.85 on floor, 13.30 on pommel horse, 14.20 on rings, 15.65 on horse and a 14.10 on high bar.
