Nebraska swimming and diving Head Coach Pablo Morales has announced the signing of five prep athletes to join the Huskers in August of 2012. Two of the signees are Nebraska natives, while the other three range from Kansas, Ohio and the Bahamas.
Samantha Hardewig: Cincinatti, Ohio, Turpin Spartans
A three-year Ohio state qualifier and medalist, Hardewig earned a spot on the 2010-11 USA Swimming Scholastic All-America Team. The Nebraska signee also swam as a member of the Anderson Barracudas, a club swim team in Cincinatti.
Katarina Sickle: Shawnee Mission, Kansas, Grain Valley High School
Though Grain Valley High School did not host a swimming and diving team, Sickle honed her skills with the Kansas City Blazers club swimming team. Sickle is currently a nationally ranked prep swimmer.
Bria Deveaux: The Bahamas, Baylor School
Deveaux is a freestyle sprint and butterfly specialist that is a two-time high school All-American at Baylor Boarding School. She earned a gold medal in the 100-yard butterfly at the Caribbean Championships and qualified for the World Junior Championships in Peru.
Nicole Schwery: Lincoln, Neb, Lincoln Southwest
The lone diving signee of the group, Schwery is a member of the Nebraska Diving Club under coach Hoffman Kristopher. Schwery competed at the 2011 Junior National Diving Championships and finished in the top-20 in both the 3-meter and platform diving event at the 2011 USA diving Summer Junior Zone C Championships.
Katherine Ditter: Omaha, Neb, Ralston/Omaha Gross
Ditter is a breaststroke and freestyle specialist from Omaha, Neb. Ditter finished with the best prep time in the state of
Nebraska in the 100-yard breaststroke in 2010-11.
